New music hub, Lamp House Music, based in Haddington, was overwhelmed with visitors to its Open Doors Day on Saturday (28th April 2012).

The converted railway building had opened to bands and musicians for rehearsals the previous week but had invited anyone who wanted to find out more about its facilities and music lessons, or have a tour of the building, to come along.

Spokesperson Roz Maguire said,

‘We had musicians of all ages turning up and trying out our rooms and gear – the atmosphere was amazing as they all jammed away with each other.  Teens and younger kids also got involved and made up their own wee bands, everyone had such a great time.

We were really blown away by the amount of people that came along and the enthusiasm and positivity for what we are doing was incredible.  We are so pleased that the people of East Lothian see the potential for Lamp House Music, it’s made the real hard slog of the last month all worthwhile.”

Lamp House Music provides three professional, fully equipped rehearsal studios for band practices as well as music lessons for all ages and abilities.

Their Saturday Morning Guitar Club starts on 12th May for children ages 8 plus though there are only limited places left.  They are also taking notes of interest for their Summer School 2012 and are setting up classes in various instruments for children and adults.
